Heeramandi actor Jason Shah says co-star Sharmin Segal did not fully explore her character; recalls Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s advise to her

Actor Jason Shah who played the role of Cartwright in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar spoke his heart out about the criticism that his co-star Sharmin Segal, has been receiving for her performance as Alamzeb in the web series. During an interaction with Entertainment LIVE, Jason said that Sharmin’s performance was one-tone and speculated that this might have been the direction that she received from Bhansali. Jason even said that as per him, there there should have been a higher escalation of emotion in different places. Jason Shah on co-star Sharmin Segal’s performance in Heeramandi Jason continued saying that he remember Sanjay telling Sharmin to stop acting from head and start acting from your heart. He added saying that he does not know what they wanted from her, may be that was the one tone that they were looking for from Alamzeb character. He even said that Sharmin was doing her thing and worked easily together.

Jason even said that if Sharmin was not told to keep it one-tone, then he felt that the character had a lot of space and a lot of scope to do a lot of different things. He even said that he feels that the character was not fully explored.

On the other hand, Sharmin’s co-star Shekhar Suman and others have defended her and lashed out at netizens who have been making fun of the actress for her poor performance.

Sharmin who is Bhansali’s niece revealed on The Great Indian Kapil Show that she prepared for one year and also underwent 16 rounds of audition for Alamzeb’s role in Heeramandi.
