Fidelity plans NFT marketplace and financial services on Metaverse
On December 21, investment firm Fidelity filed three trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The trademark filing covers NFTs, NFT Marketplaces and Metaverse Investment Services, suggesting the company has plans to enter this space.
One of the company’s focuses seems to be on the Metaverse, suggesting that one day it may offer investment services in virtual worlds. Offerings may include various funds such as mutual funds and retirement funds.
Italy Creating a Crypto Art Renaissance: NFT Market Report
A recent report published by Research and Markets forecasts that the Italian NFT market will grow by 47.6% by the end of 2022. This brings the total Italian NFT market to $671 million.
The report also forecasts that the country’s NFT industry will show an annual growth rate of 34.6% over the next five years, with spending reaching about $3.6 billion in 2028.
North Korean hackers use nearly 500 phishing domains to steal NFTs
The day before Christmas, blockchain security firm SlowMist highlighted that North Korean hackers launched a widespread campaign targeting NFT users. According to reports, the attackers have created nearly 500 phishing domains to lure potential victims.
Some websites spoofed popular NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea, X2Y2 and Rarible. The fake website is trying to mimic a recent World Cup related project.

Japanese gaming giant Square Enix recently launched its Metaverse initiative, investing around $53 million to create mobile and blockchain games. The announcement hinted that the company will partner with game developer Her Gumi to create a marketplace focused on gaming NFTs.
