Meta is now teasing that Next VR Headset The company hasn’t confirmed which model it will be, but it’s speculated that this next wearable will be the Meta Quest 3.
- Meta could launch a Quest 3 VR headset in 2023.
- Headset prices are said to be between $300 and $500.
- It features a pancake lens and a faster Snapdragon XR Gen 2 chipset.
The company behind Facebook continues to bet big on mixed reality through the mythical “Metaverse.” After recently launching metaquest pro Meta, an MR headset, is set to update its affordable Quest 2. The company’s CFO, Dave Whener, has hinted that a successor will launch next year. He didn’t provide an exact date, but it’s estimated to be in the fall of 2020, when the second-generation Quest 2 was announced, or similar timing.
What is the price of Meta Quest 3
Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg hinted earlier this month that a Quest 3 was already in development. At the same time, the CEO said that Meta Quest 3 will cost him around $300-500, or the latest price of Quest 2, around $399. That’s reasonable given that the headset is aimed at mainstream use, unlike the premium Pro models built for developers and prosumers.
Metaquest 3 specs
In terms of features, few details have been revealed about Meta’s Quest 3 features. Similarly, recently leaked renders of the Quest 3 show a leaning toward virtual reality devices rather than mixed reality headsets with passthrough technology. Surprisingly, it may feature the pancake lens also used in Meta’s Quest Pro and ByteDance’s Pico 4 VR.
It’s unclear if the 3rd generation headset will benefit from the eye and face tracking tech that debuted in the pricier Quest Pro. Gender cannot be denied. Finally, the device is rumored to feature his unannounced Snapdragon XR Gen 2 chipset.
