Legendary studio DC Comics is further expanding its foothold in the digital space by launching its Superman comics in the form of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The company is taking bold steps to empower communities and expand the traditional experience of owning and reading comic books.

DC Comics has announced the launch of DC Collectible Comics (DC3). This is an initiative that drops classic and contemporary comic books as digital assets every week. The first of these NFTs will be Superman #1, making him one of the most valuable comics in history.

Fans can even buy, keep, or resell digital assets via DC Comic’s Marketplace. Each item is assigned a different rarity level at the time of purchase, ranging from Common to Rare to Epic to Legendary. The first drop in the collection will mint 3,000 unique items.

Depending on their rarity, NFTs feature different looks for classic comics and different covers for modern comics. The former was out of print for decades.
